I am going to take part in her Weekly Art Project.<br />
<br />
I have got off to a flying start - I made this little quilt last weekend for the SAQA Trunk show.<br />
<br />
This is just the boost I need to keep my creative juices flowing and to get me back into the blogging habit.<br />

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is my contribution to the 2016 SAQA Auction. I think it is the 4th time I have contributed. Sadly, I didn't photograph the process as I made this little 12 x 12 quilt. I decided that I would make a second to show the process.</span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The background fabric isn't the same colour but I couldn't find anything closer in my stash.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiItCEG-tn95DjfIRxsLdPVrrLB35V37QDbAawxcFra4Kb9kw68a4HHM0-PTFZsWwBK2b7sxTL6hwJo1sK4eKxPST2KjWGFgj30wS7Zd37Cj3E_CXc5nUCs3tUnCYWeHdpnXKrqYA/s1600/P1100351.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiItCEG-tn95DjfIRxsLdPVrrLB35V37QDbAawxcFra4Kb9kw68a4HHM0-PTFZsWwBK2b7sxTL6hwJo1sK4eKxPST2KjWGFgj30wS7Zd37Cj3E_CXc5nUCs3tUnCYWeHdpnXKrqYA/s320/P1100351.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, I printed text, in gold all over the fabric, using one of my thermofax screens. I did this very roughly, just for texture. The text is a letter written to my Grandmother from her fiance in Egypt, just before he left for Gallopolli during WWI.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYOT_Gxa-0hy2zCx4rR-9p1rMO_Ich0tdUS87Da6AWDCxXcR8VcGSlqF_BYBDS7CeU0ykQwnSLKfKRmPg1otmC4KyOHtcP2svbr8qjnHEV33nlC1h7JHTAC-6aqTR_AtlMdQCALg/s1600/P1100352.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYOT_Gxa-0hy2zCx4rR-9p1rMO_Ich0tdUS87Da6AWDCxXcR8VcGSlqF_BYBDS7CeU0ykQwnSLKfKRmPg1otmC4KyOHtcP2svbr8qjnHEV33nlC1h7JHTAC-6aqTR_AtlMdQCALg/s320/P1100352.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I cut the fabric, roughly to size (about 13.5 inches square).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDLgZ3OniJmGQ94O6tfgC4Cy_nP0Mk9qNjK5yJEv9nWIm3MXH3MsgsZfZDEpnAzlLJz3ZaRaTboJhAKf96Ebo0hJn3_5AbIwhUmK6BDj9KC8P7NBs1RuO2H2vyfwr_RHDUU6DZw/s1600/P1100353.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDLgZ3OniJmGQ94O6tfgC4Cy_nP0Mk9qNjK5yJEv9nWIm3MXH3MsgsZfZDEpnAzlLJz3ZaRaTboJhAKf96Ebo0hJn3_5AbIwhUmK6BDj9KC8P7NBs1RuO2H2vyfwr_RHDUU6DZw/s320/P1100353.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next came the seed heads in white (another thermofax screen - this is one that I drew).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeQRmnceYO6Cz1M92oF9_FMZQQokvu0HLQMMdcob0oKPIheN-tSR1n0cPtgsOCGegevhfKz7-leYEbcVmSS7OM4PkamjHFJUVT41IEygUpDTbe-lwDl3RXz1l_kfe1yKCRIalOyQ/s1600/P1100356.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeQRmnceYO6Cz1M92oF9_FMZQQokvu0HLQMMdcob0oKPIheN-tSR1n0cPtgsOCGegevhfKz7-leYEbcVmSS7OM4PkamjHFJUVT41IEygUpDTbe-lwDl3RXz1l_kfe1yKCRIalOyQ/s320/P1100356.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The next layer was the scary one. If I botched this I was going to have to start again. This is a homemade stencil of a pear. I cut the stencil from an overhead projector sheet (acrylic).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzOKah9O8jARX0JDqhJ_77mHI4ugLxY8l2j9Qij0clNd4s8gFNmF2AhemjdiqUfyzO1oBRWpgX7yrcIXUq8Bc4IIZplLD4a9DspHYyHQq86gXkd0KmpuzrHozKeeRmKOJvsHTwcg/s1600/P1100359.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzOKah9O8jARX0JDqhJ_77mHI4ugLxY8l2j9Qij0clNd4s8gFNmF2AhemjdiqUfyzO1oBRWpgX7yrcIXUq8Bc4IIZplLD4a9DspHYyHQq86gXkd0KmpuzrHozKeeRmKOJvsHTwcg/s320/P1100359.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Phew! It worked. Not a smudge in sight!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPeiWkNubkCjTCm3Qo7jmOLef60ejXkMneJwiOr1ebp_Dqy8YQq0uQ9wR28GpSTBsEdmkSbAeaNDrt9gdhiWmxDFUL1QOsu18sA2YB6BUsnmZKi1_wEyFyLazx0f-jUcxeeX3d_Q/s1600/P1100360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPeiWkNubkCjTCm3Qo7jmOLef60ejXkMneJwiOr1ebp_Dqy8YQq0uQ9wR28GpSTBsEdmkSbAeaNDrt9gdhiWmxDFUL1QOsu18sA2YB6BUsnmZKi1_wEyFyLazx0f-jUcxeeX3d_Q/s320/P1100360.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
After the black ink was dry (with a little help from the hair dryer), I repositioned the stencil to just overlap the black.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVwSnNzcald2WgKtd9wsk4i5mfCD2QuZ_T8ZVUb7sTQldzmJpSluftKmCiGuAd9HgBCuWhBDD3XgtuN96Z5xJB_9tDwHYmQq5BzQShol1FbayS_dApEDbv6r7zV2V8YhmDzXzIaw/s1600/P1100361.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVwSnNzcald2WgKtd9wsk4i5mfCD2QuZ_T8ZVUb7sTQldzmJpSluftKmCiGuAd9HgBCuWhBDD3XgtuN96Z5xJB_9tDwHYmQq5BzQShol1FbayS_dApEDbv6r7zV2V8YhmDzXzIaw/s320/P1100361.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This didn't smudge either. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRnKI4QTlIsjSUWNyOta_QybrX-KyJptQ5Zz4dH8BRKtn1GClF8n66PfqK0uk1DX1SfHZbsYH02TUJMC-VW6nEDn_9gn85_sZRUpnqoFdpR39qPX-TDWlj0q-nBsmh9QDlGfMv0w/s1600/P1100362.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRnKI4QTlIsjSUWNyOta_QybrX-KyJptQ5Zz4dH8BRKtn1GClF8n66PfqK0uk1DX1SfHZbsYH02TUJMC-VW6nEDn_9gn85_sZRUpnqoFdpR39qPX-TDWlj0q-nBsmh9QDlGfMv0w/s320/P1100362.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now for my little flying pears. On the original quilt I printed these pears using my little wooden print block but I have put it away so carefully I couldn't find it so I have had to use another thermofax. I am not as happy with the result.. The wood block gives a much sharper print.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtQhlg0IMIjNLMhISjViJRqWAD2MXUM2_XgzOaznml5TPRwYsbvYZf8ezkn6DdAwqw7CiMSdYKlF3Zw3ucB9oVAPfeQRsEiNoyulPH1FgVi6mlljuLg49wdPeqpsWcbEvWul8Caw/s1600/P1100367.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtQhlg0IMIjNLMhISjViJRqWAD2MXUM2_XgzOaznml5TPRwYsbvYZf8ezkn6DdAwqw7CiMSdYKlF3Zw3ucB9oVAPfeQRsEiNoyulPH1FgVi6mlljuLg49wdPeqpsWcbEvWul8Caw/s320/P1100367.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now to the sewing machine. I sandwiched the quilt using bamboo wadding. I want the pear to bulge so I have started quilting by outlining it'<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD5k30jkF5wfYsVjWSsjgQUdB3qPFnf2koy45hRhOVEzpr6svxe4KH4s-8HWvM7aHEqAAPK5J-yLvyS1FUxBg4bYO8ADACxfoL4U33pOQaRq5j4lQ5_6pfAmpnZfNrv_2y0cmoOQ/s1600/P1100375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD5k30jkF5wfYsVjWSsjgQUdB3qPFnf2koy45hRhOVEzpr6svxe4KH4s-8HWvM7aHEqAAPK5J-yLvyS1FUxBg4bYO8ADACxfoL4U33pOQaRq5j4lQ5_6pfAmpnZfNrv_2y0cmoOQ/s320/P1100375.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I then stitched the seed head in white and heavily stippled the background used a brown to green variegated thread. finally I stitched the flying pears in black.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ifZ1xQPQRwviG3qd8p2iooaRqemH2eLKSqo0x5Q6YTnGkHX9wPNI-OWou_UCZnBkmPvh3A_2T6Ykiz8wwC0y5v-fhVR7s4zisnkEzFE3O9MIeZRlDvFmcZyAAxlkOTKdJl54aQ/s1600/P1100380.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ifZ1xQPQRwviG3qd8p2iooaRqemH2eLKSqo0x5Q6YTnGkHX9wPNI-OWou_UCZnBkmPvh3A_2T6Ykiz8wwC0y5v-fhVR7s4zisnkEzFE3O9MIeZRlDvFmcZyAAxlkOTKdJl54aQ/s320/P1100380.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Gold paint applied to the flying pears to give them a little character.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgISINRx9-lxaYXd4YMq1WS57AZ7s58FicgrLKYoAWO4cLXtfex82NcSlRgN16bcADrygV_PC-GcMTgpt7RWkl8vPp4zW1o4Aw4mc3uHwbfZGzurELkM6KCuJ7tVY77ljYaLqTy1Q/s1600/P1100382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgISINRx9-lxaYXd4YMq1WS57AZ7s58FicgrLKYoAWO4cLXtfex82NcSlRgN16bcADrygV_PC-GcMTgpt7RWkl8vPp4zW1o4Aw4mc3uHwbfZGzurELkM6KCuJ7tVY77ljYaLqTy1Q/s320/P1100382.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I do get a little nervous when I do this. I cut a slit in the back of the pear and gently stuffed it with carded merino wool.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7yI2ZSGlKVa48b-eBs3VaXHB7FpmVr1mLaJfv1DmeXVt0m1A1yiQ4vanwjHvBU5gLRyprdxV0DB31rjariUmsoyGqK6_IZjz4OyHpGBddsGDylGJW42c-527hs1nVh8yRg1HIfw/s1600/P1100383.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7yI2ZSGlKVa48b-eBs3VaXHB7FpmVr1mLaJfv1DmeXVt0m1A1yiQ4vanwjHvBU5gLRyprdxV0DB31rjariUmsoyGqK6_IZjz4OyHpGBddsGDylGJW42c-527hs1nVh8yRg1HIfw/s320/P1100383.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I stitched the cut back together with a running stitch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT_mJlI-fi9Zp5dAB7SLQd8re88UwhZSMJ3rg3A8U9-ZaLdcLV_ZpNmUyJdPCBI7EdOB84kVuQwT_tuDBYf9YwHU9Q0GFUFPxJbmsR45-h87NlQPljkqeAbH7FJNCNn6dL_84UWg/s1600/P1100386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT_mJlI-fi9Zp5dAB7SLQd8re88UwhZSMJ3rg3A8U9-ZaLdcLV_ZpNmUyJdPCBI7EdOB84kVuQwT_tuDBYf9YwHU9Q0GFUFPxJbmsR45-h87NlQPljkqeAbH7FJNCNn6dL_84UWg/s320/P1100386.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I painted the pear with fabric paints and shiva stiks (Shiva to give a gentle sheen).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCLxCRhY5NxfzTtz-Xz2JJEHP8-WO3kORjpKoYutFD_5_g8Oiax4vygpTH4imuyf4bSchSHkhG20tNYqnJcW7IZTZ4yGDQVD2bCSyXpiVqqQYX_6FvTMUh8YYlF3C-NnP2pr-wNQ/s1600/P1100391.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCLxCRhY5NxfzTtz-Xz2JJEHP8-WO3kORjpKoYutFD_5_g8Oiax4vygpTH4imuyf4bSchSHkhG20tNYqnJcW7IZTZ4yGDQVD2bCSyXpiVqqQYX_6FvTMUh8YYlF3C-NnP2pr-wNQ/s320/P1100391.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I added a facing (I wont show the photo I took of the facing on the wrong side of the quilt!) A little unsewing ensured.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
The finished quilt. It isn't quiet the same as the quilt that is in the auction but the process was the same.<br />
<br />
The next quilter to post in this blog hop is <a href="http://www.alisonschwabe.com/weblog" target="_blank">Alison Schwabe</a>.<br />

<br />
<br />
I hop you have enjoyed watching how I worked this little quilt.<br />

Oh dear! I've been missing in action again. I really don't have an excuse except that I've been lacking a bit of motivation. Hopefully my get up and go has returned and I will post a little more often (that really shouldn't be too hard!).<br />
<br />
I have been very busy, creating art. I've been quilting, painting and drawing! .<br />

I have been missing. I have had my life turn upside down. I lost the love of my life last year and I have been trying to get back onto an even keel.<br />
<br />
There is still beauty in the world (amazingly). The earth didn't stop spinning (I thought it would).<br />
<br />
Life continues and now I have a beautiful pussy cat in my life. Photos later.<br />

It was the prod I needed to get out of my creative fug!<br />
<br />
I started to paint with acrylics. I've played a lot with watercolours! I love them. Acrylicas are all new to me. Wow! How much fun are they? You make a mistake and you can fix it!<br />

It has seduced me with its instant response. Its voyeuristic images are so tempting. It carries me all over the world at the click of the mouse. Sigh.<br />
<br />
<br />
I really must get back to here and think more about who I am and what I do. The instant gratification of Facebook is addictive. Nowonder the kids of tady are hooked on it.<br />

Dear Reader, I once again appologise for having abandoned you for the frivolity of Facbook.<br />

What have I been doing, you ask. Well, I have been dyeing fabric for two baby quilts for two precious grand babies and sewing siggy blocks (I have had them since 2007).<br />

Oh dear, I've done it again.<br />
<br />
<br />
Poor Reader, you must have just about given up on me completely.<br />
<br />
This post is my turn, as part of the SAQA Oceania Group to post a blog about the quilt I have donated to the SAQA Auction. Here is the link to the Blog Hop pages <a href="http://saqa-oceania.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/oceania-collection-blog-hop.html" target="_blank">oceania collection blog hop</a><br />
<br />
<br />
I have been very busy in my absence from the blogosphere. I have been working hard and looking after my sick hubby as well. I have spent some time in my studio, but not as much as I would have liked. I have managed to produce a few pieces and one of those is my donation to the SAQA Auction 2013.<br />
<br />
My little quilt is called Floating and I was inspired by a sample piece I made for my City and Guilds course. I love the colours of the background and the way the two rectangles "float".<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"> </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I decided to make a "variation on a theme" quilt.<br />
<br />
Once I had made that decision I was off and making!<br />
<br />
<br />
Now I have a cofession to make. I got so involved in making the quilt I forgot to take photos as I made it! I was so crabby with myself. Anyway, I have managed to find a couple of photos of the quilt nearly finished. <br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
All my fabrics are hand dyed. The orange is rust dyed. Rust dyeing is a technique that I love. The results are always a suprise.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The green fabris I also screen printed with the words from the Beatles song "Blackbird"<br />
<br />
The small rectangle on the left hand side of the quilt was cut from a piece of fabric that I stamped with soy wax before I dyed it. I then screen printed that too!.<br />

<br />
Now please don't fall of your chair! Yes I am posting again! FB is still not playing nicely and won't let me post photos!<br />
<br />
A couple of years ago I taught myself how to cyanoprint. The prints I made I have used in all sorts of ways but this one is my favourite. It is a little quilt called "Passage to an Unknown World". I used a photo I took of the Derwent Estuary in Hobart (Tasmania). I tried to represent the view my great great would have seen from the deck of the convict ship as she sailed into Hobart. She was an amazing woman. I do wish I had met her.<br />

Oh dear! Sorry dear reader, I'm afraid Face book has distracted me yet again but she is very fickle and has decided I couldn't post photos tonight. Well - I thought - I'm sure Blogger and I can fix that. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What I want to show you is a photo of the end result of my first Indigo vat.</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I threw in (very gently) some white cotton, cotton lawn and some rust dyed cotton. I also added a couple of pieces of cotton that I had previously dyed and I didn't like. Some silk went into the vat and finally a piece of cotton velvet.</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This after they were pulled out of the vat - they are sitting quietly oxidizing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love the results. I can't wait to play with them.<br />

While I'm here I thought you might like to see the latest art quilt I have made. It is called A Light on History.<br />

Oops - where did the weekend go!I got a little left behind!<br />
<br />
I have had the best weekend in my studio - playing with paper. I made paper quilts and they worked. I was suprised. A learning curve.<br />
<br />
My photos for August were taken but the camera didn't find its way to the computer.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Somewhere I sat and I sit in that spot as often as I can! <br />
<br />
The poor sewing machine, on Saturday, took up two pairs of trousers! She is still in shock! I don't blame her - I am too.<br />
<br />
One of my daughters saw this photo today and commented that it is tidy! Clever photography!<br />

This is my Logo. I've been reading a little about "signing" art work lately. There seems to be a bit of "ponse" happening! "No - we don't do that"! <br />
<br />
<br />
Where did that time go? Did I mention that our eldest Grand Daughter came to live with us in early May? She is nearly 17 and a beautiful young woman! Since she arrived she has had a few health isuues that we have addressed that has meant many hours of sitting and waiting in doctors waiting rooms and hospital wards. Sweat Pea (DH) and I have taken turns at this. All is well now and we are starting to settle into a new family routine. DGD has found herself a \n after school job as well, so the grandparents taxi is open for business.. It's funny how quickly we forget all the time using tasks that revolve around the needs of a teenager! All is good with the world.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuM6-uYTMa8quFdFwbzuURs0VqxgPFQGbln41ick5ixgBbD0ZWz_Y7jAoBLDM7wi-rwdleyAX2WwAEhToDDyLx0OaaXYxVv8l8cdwqwnFnoE5jOMdDYuDQWW3vUhgduLlOI_oxYw/s1600/Winter+sunset.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuM6-uYTMa8quFdFwbzuURs0VqxgPFQGbln41ick5ixgBbD0ZWz_Y7jAoBLDM7wi-rwdleyAX2WwAEhToDDyLx0OaaXYxVv8l8cdwqwnFnoE5jOMdDYuDQWW3vUhgduLlOI_oxYw/s320/Winter+sunset.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Winter in Tasmania is amazing. Most of the time the days are clear and still. I sun is low in the northern sky and the sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. We get fogs and frosts. My camera works very hard to record the beauty.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

This is the view of the back of our house from the middle of oour back garden. My studio is the ground floor level. The upper level is the living room. The roof of my studio is a huge deck that looks south, down the river towards the mountain and the city.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now! I have decided I need a prompt to get myself back into a blogging routine. I have found one. I have decided to join Fat Mum Slim's August Challenge.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffatmumslim.com.au%2Fhere-it-is-photo-a-day-august-challenge-list%2F&h=ZAQGv8DiS">http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffatmumslim.com.au%2Fhere-it-is-photo-a-day-august-challenge-list%2F&h=ZAQGv8DiS</a><br />
<br />
This is a photo a day challenge. It sounds like fun and it might d=give a bit of focus for a while.<br />

This is the watercolour that appeared in my sketchbook this lunch time.<br />

My Sister-in-Law asked me, a few days ago, if I could paint her a Lillium. I'd never tried that before, so here is a small sample. I think I will be able to do it for her.<br />

This is what my design wall looks like tonight! I got to play today in my studio! Actually I ran away for a few hours - this will be my "go to" space for a while I think!<br />
<br />
This week has been a little stressfull. We have a new house member - a 16 year old Grand daughter has come to live with us! A long story but I am happy that she wants to be here. A whole new learning curve for a Wally (Nanny Wally)! We will have fun I think - and I guess a few hiccups, but that is par for the course for teenagers and any sort of authority. <br />
<br />
We will be cool! She is a good kid.<br />
<br />
Please cross your fingers for me! (We have chocolate muffins for school lunches in the pantry, courtsey of said teenager! Good start! They smell great!).<br />
<br />
Oops - yesterday I forgot to post that <a href="http://www.pamhollanddesigns.typepad.com/">Pam Holland</a> showed us here studio in the most beautiful video, as part of the SAQA Blog hop (Road Trip). She is just so clever and talented! The video is a must see! I just love her work.<br />

That little flat roof just to the left of the yellow rosebuds is my studio. The view from the windows is so green in spring and summer and golden and red in autumn.<br />

My Studio is a Granny Flat off the living room of our house - yes I have a really nice bathroom attached to my studio. It isn't large enough to be a wet area but I do have running water. My wet area is the kitchen - not ideal but in summer I have a big paved area under the oak tree (in the photo above) that I use for dyeing and printing. The back yard is a perfect spot for wet play. <br />

My couch is behind the cutting table and my favourite magazines are on the bookcase beside that.</div>

<br />Here is the room that has all my "go to" stuff! Fabric, books, sewing machines (7 of them live in here, in the little bath in the bathroom), over lockers (x 2), batting, paper making stuff, spare irons, the treadle sewing machine, the gocco printing machines and paraphernalia - the list just goes on! <br />
<br />
<br />
This is the store room really - the "what will I do today" space.<br />

<br />This little corner at the bottom of the stairs is where the beads, pencils (watercolour, charcoal, drawing, marking etc) live. Some of my fabric paints are here too because I haven't found them a home yet. The draws have all my stencils and stamps in them. To the left are my paint brushes, rollers and others stuff for making marks on fabric. The top shelf has artist canvas just waiting!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Bottom left (in the corner) is the cat spot! Food! All good studios have a cat - mine is just a bit paranoid!<br />

This messy space is technology space. I quilt with the DVD player working.<br />
<br />
In this corner is the TV, DVD, Net book, printer, iPad, refrigerator (bar fridge under the printer), cottons (wooden catalogue draws from the 1930's that belonged to my Dad once upon a time), speaker and my glass of wine!<br />

Looking at these photos I am realising just how messy my work space is but I just love it. When I tidy up I can't find anything and I get very frustrated and I walk away.<br />
<br />
The board in front of my beautiful Bernina is full of the things that inspire me and the stuff that I want to take further.<br />

<br />
My cutting table as a printing table - it works for me! All my rulers are in a rack I bought in a stationary supply shop. There must be over 30 rulers of varying kinds stored at the back of the table.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I do hope you have enjoyed a little look at my messy work space. Next time you visit it will look totally different! It depends on what I am doing!<br />

Where have the last 4 days gone? I've missed a step in the SAQA Oceania Blog Hop (Road Trip) and I've almost missed the whole weekend. That is what happens when you have your nose down and you tail up and you are concentrating so hard on a task that you loose all track of time! More about the task in another post.
Happy Mother's Day to all those Mothers out there. I hope you all get spoiled rotten today.

<br />
On Friday <a href="http://www.avesrave.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/ciao-e-benvenuto-nel-mio-studio.html" target="_blank"><strong>Averil Stuart-Head</strong></a> shared her studio with us. It is just beautiful - the stuff that dreams are made of, right in the middle of Italy!<br />
<br />
Today it is Beth Miller's turn to show us where she works and I can understand now why she makes such great stuff. He studio expose is being hosted on <a href="http://serendipitypatchwork.com.au/blog/">Brenda Gael Smith</a>'s blog. After your tour visit <a href="http://www.bethmillerquilts.com/about.html" target="_blank"><strong><em>Beth’s website</em></strong></a><em> </em>to see her work.<br />
<br />
On Tuesday it is my turn to show where I work.<br />
