Now please don't fall of your chair!  Yes I am posting again!  FB is still not playing nicely and won't let me post photos!

A couple of years ago I taught myself how to cyanoprint.  The prints I made I have used in all sorts of ways but this one is my favourite.  It is a little quilt called "Passage to an Unknown World".  I used a photo I took of the Derwent Estuary in Hobart (Tasmania).  I tried to represent the view my great great would have seen from the deck of the convict ship as she sailed into Hobart.  She was an amazing woman.  I do wish I had met her.

Oh dear!  Sorry dear reader, I'm afraid Face book has distracted me yet again but she is very fickle and has decided I couldn't post photos tonight.  Well - I thought - I'm sure Blogger and I can fix that.

What I want to show you is a photo of the end result of my first Indigo vat.

I threw in (very gently) some white cotton, cotton lawn and some rust dyed cotton.  I also added a couple of pieces of cotton that I had previously dyed and I didn't like.  Some silk went into the vat and finally a piece of cotton velvet.

This after they were pulled out of the vat - they are sitting quietly oxidizing!

Here are the results

I love the results.  I can't wait to play with them.

While I'm here I thought you might like to see the latest art quilt I have made.  It is called A Light on History.

It is inspired by one of my trips to MONA - the Museum of Old and New Art.  The museum is about 500 meters down the road from my house!

A catchup! Oops - where did the weekend go!

I got a little left behind!

I have had the best weekend in my studio - playing with paper.  I made paper quilts and they worked.  I was suprised.  A learning curve.

My photos for August were taken but the camera didn't find its way to the computer.

August 4

Somewhere I sat and I sit in that spot as often as I can!

The poor sewing machine, on Saturday, took up two pairs of trousers!  She is still in shock!  I don't blame her - I am too.

One of my daughters saw this photo today and commented that it is tidy!  Clever photography!

A Logo

This is my Logo.  I've been reading a little about "signing" art work lately.  There seems to be a bit of "ponse" happening!  "No - we don't do that"! We I do - I have designed a monogram - I put it somewhere on all my work - sometimes on the back, sometimes on the front!  It says who I am and this is what I made.

Missing in Action

Dear Reader, I am so sorry I have neglected you for the past 2 months!

Where did that time go?  Did I mention that our eldest Grand Daughter came to live with us in early May?  She is nearly 17 and a beautiful young woman!  Since she arrived she has had a few health isuues that we have addressed that has meant many hours of sitting and waiting in doctors waiting rooms and hospital wards.  Sweat Pea (DH) and I have taken turns at this.  All is well now and we are starting to settle into a new family routine.  DGD has found herself a \n after school job as well, so the grandparents taxi is open for business..  It's funny how quickly we forget all the time using tasks that revolve around the needs of a teenager!  All is good with the world.

Winter in Tasmania is amazing.  Most of the time the days are clear and still. I sun is low in the northern sky and the sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.  We get fogs and frosts.  My camera works very hard to record the beauty.

This is the view of the back of our house from the middle of oour back garden.  My studio is the ground floor level.  The upper level is the living room.  The roof of my studio is a huge deck that looks south, down the river towards the mountain and the city.

Now!  I have decided I need a prompt to get myself back into a blogging routine.  I have found one.  I have decided to join Fat Mum Slim's August Challenge.

This is a photo a day challenge.  It sounds like fun and it might d=give a bit of focus for a while.

I will try to be better dear Reader!

The SAQA Oceania Blog hop moves from Queensland to NSW!

It's time to pour a glass of wine or make a cuppa and settle down and have a guided tour of Brenda Gael Smith's    Studio.  Her space is perfect!  The view is perfect!  The work she creates there is amazing!

Just for fun - here are a couple of little water colours from my sketch book.

Lillium

This is the watercolour that appeared in my sketchbook this lunch time.

My Sister-in-Law asked me, a few days ago, if I could paint her a Lillium.  I'd never tried that before, so here is a small sample.  I think I will be able to do it for her.
