This is my December Journal quilt for 2009 - that would be number 12 for 2009 on my journey from quilter to nearly a quilt artist! I think I have learnt a lot over the last 12 months about quilting, art and me!
The theme for December was "December". I've decided that I would do a reflection and introspection of the year. This little quilt represents all I have learnt in 2009. It is a start, I still have a long way to travel!

This is a gelatine monoprint background, lino printed feathers and then handpainted and heavily free motion quilted. I'm really happy with it - I'd love to know what you think!

I love what you do with feathers! Your block print was terrific and now this! Great!
I've done a little with feathers, too. They are a good subject.
You know how much I love feathers or anything of nature in art work. Nice piece!
It's gorgeous, Sally! You have made some amazing quilts in 2009. Can't wait to see what you will do in 2010! (counting this one as a 2009 quilt, that is!)
PS Have you received my postcard?
WOW! This is very cool! I almost wish you had posted step by step pictures to see your process. Great piece to end the year!
Sally,
I think it turned out fantastically and look forward to seeing what else you accomplish.
Sally, this is awesome...I love it!
That is amazing! The feathers look like they are truly floating down to earth. And your choice of colours is breathtaking. Just absolutely lovely.
Sally, I love what you did; the complexity of the techniques definitely puts you in the art quilt playground. It's lovely with lots of interest, texture, color, and good design.
I like it! The feathers are floating and the black and brown contrast on the blue is very effective. Nice work!
Lovely feathers. Have a wonderful creative year.
This is a beautiful piece! I love the feathers and your signature stamp in the corner.
This is a beautiful piece - I really like how your quilting mimicked the painting/background. It was surprising and fun when I clicked on the picture to see it close up and realize not all was quilting lines. I have read that artwork should draw in the viewer - and yours certainly did me! thanks!!
I love the movement and use of positive and negative space. Great feathers! I have been wanting to try a gelatin print....very nice job!
Only one criticism... you're not NEARLY a quilt artist, you ARE one! WELL DONE! Cheers, Sarah
Absolutely beautiful!! What more can I say?
Fabulous Sally! It has a lovely free feeling.
All the best for 2010.
Am totally in awe of your quilts.. they look as if you have drawn them.. and drawn them well too.
I always enjoy checking to see what you have been up to... very inspiring.
Its fabulous!!! Im sure you can claim to be a quilt artist and very inspiring too, well done
Lovely movement in this journal. How do you do a gelatine monoprint?
Gosh I love that free hand quilting. Just amazing. A very newbie having a break from an uninspiring piece. Inspired to go back again. Thanks.
er ... yes - what they said! LOL
I had something all ready to say, but someone has already said it!
- I too was going to say - forget that "nearly" word - you ARE a quilt artist ;-)
