Friday Flaunt
So far so good with this quilt.
I left it to one side to "brew", while I worked on "WHY?"
A month or so ago I made some silk paper just to see what it was like. I discovered I love the process of making the paper and the end result.
When Lisa Walton sent me some of her really cute precut and backed leaves, I knew exactly what I would do with them. Use them on this quilt. I ironed them on (don't use a just warm iron!!!!!! Don't ask!). The quilt still needed something -" leaves cut from the silk paper!", I thought to myself. So, at 11.30 last night, I sew the silk leaves on. I still have to stitch the fabric leaves! I'm starting to feel very positive about this quilt.
I blocked "WHY?" over the weekend and now the quilt is square again! I'd read about what happens when you use a bias seam but I'd never seen it before - not pretty!

I'm sitting here in my hot hot office (aircon on the blink) and looking at that is just so so cooling and inviting. Autumn, cooler weather, water, green landscape....my dream scene.:)
I love the leaves.
You are so right - these leaves are perfect! Beautiful quilt, Sally. Ha - I looked at the date of your post and did a double-take before I realized you're a day ahead of us. It's still the 11th here.
So odd to contemplate.
This is gorgeous Sally! Well done. Did you use Lisa's handdyed fabrics?
"Quilts looking good. Particularly like the border
Lovely quilt Sally - the leaves look great - the silk paper ones give extra dimension.
I have some of Lisas leaves too - haven't decided what to use them for yet.
Love your work Sally! You inspire me! Love the blog make-over too. Loads so fast for me now!
I really like the leaves -- especially that some are shiny and some are not. Beautiful quilt.
you are so inspirational Sally
