This is a little quilt I made for Noah, our first grandson. I made it 5 years ago. It was the first quilt I made using a wool batting - I'm never going to do that again! I discovered after I made the quilt that the batting was a very bad batch - my excuse was that I was a very new quilter then.
Naomi has used the quilt for Noah and then Tyson (3rd
Grandson). I made Tyson a quilt (oops - not finished (note to self - you are a bad Wally!)) I'll finish that quilt this week.
Ava-Rose was born this week so she got the new pink and green quilt that I made for her. I gave that to Naomi this morning and I asked for Noah's quilt back for re-making. She had it in the car so I got the poor little object.
Such a sad sight. I didn't take a photo of the quilt before I unpicked it this afternoon but this is a picture of the batting after I pulled it apart.
You can imagine what the poor little quilt looked like. Not a pretty sight at all.
I'm remaking it with a good quality cotton batting. I will post a picture when I have finished the quilting and binding. It is sandwiched and ready!

I've had a similar experience with a wool wadding that was lovely and soft but made me very allergic while hand quilting and then proceded(and continues to) come through the fabic of the quilt. (That was in my African Quilt on my website!) The quilt I made my daughter ended up like your grandson's quilt (Actually worse because I never mended it)and was accidentally left in a motel. Didn't realize till she was going to bed and by then the cleaners had disposed of it...tried to trace it but no luck. Thanks for following my blog! Ann.
Boy will Tyson be lucky. I would never have thought of unpicking and requiting it. Such a beautiful quilt and I am certain it will be worth the effort.
Thank you ann and Cinzia! It was worth the unpicking! All fixed and wrapped around Ava! Thank goodness it was only a small cot size!
